Dear Subscribers,
Phew! The past two months we’ve been walking through a mine field of tests, doctors visits and statistical terrors—and it’s hard to write much when your attention is rivited on all the the things you are praying won’t happen—and imagining all the things you are terrified might happen. I have been neglecting my substack. But the moment we were offered a tempered reprieve by the doctors last week, I found myself able to work on my book, Mothers of Magic, again…and I wanted to share with you the latest chapter on Desire.
It was a HARD chapter to write! The book is divided into three parts: The Mother Before Patriarchy, The Mother Within Patriarchy, and the Mother After Patriarchy. This is the last chapter of the first part…and it was HARD to write about desire without 10,000 years of sexual violence and trauma becoming the focus. But I’ve tried! What would it be like to live in a world that not only allowed but cultivated female desire? What if we were more focused on our desire than our desirability?
I have a feeling this chapter has about six more revisions…but at least it has a beginning, middle and end right now so I am going to share it with you, my beloved subsribers, today. Also don’t forget we have Monthly Magic this coming Sunday July 21 at 3 pm est. I always post the Zoom link here for my paid subscribers on Substack in the morning.
without further ado
