Osiris, the god of the dead, is also the god of fertility. In fact, when his wife Isis resurrects him the only part of him she actually brings back to life is his penis—so that she can conceive a child. Traditional devotions to Osiris involved creating phalluses made out of seeds that would burst into bloom for his feast day celebrations.
