Lovely. And interesting. It's funny you write about mothers, plural. Just the other day my somewhat wayward practice of praying the rosary, the words changed from Mother Mary to Great Mothers. Just popped right out of my mouth. For your and others enjoyment: Hail Great Mothers full of courage and grace / Blessed women and children of wombs / Holy fierce mothers who answered the call / Walk along side us / Live through and guide us/ Now and at birth yet again.
beautiful Apollo....I never think of the Mother as a singularity anymore...but like some vast flower of which there are so many many petals...it is hard to conceive in our linear way of thinking that each place holds 10,000 mothers all with arms waiting to hold us. But you know this.
Thanks Perdita. And just the other day I was reading about how mothers are warriors, so it's now Hail fierce warriors who answered the call and Ride along side us. I love how this prayer continues to evolve.
And I had never made the connection between the Magdalene and the Tower of the tarot until now (though I am sure many have). What comfort and wisdom might come from transforming that frightful image of destruction into just another aspect of the cycle, like shedding blood from the womb?
